First time in action...

     Hi, You!

Remember our pages intro? The one that said that it's time to become one of our family members? Well... this is the part when you get to see 99% of the "behind the sceen" work. So now You get to see our very own first lab work. Ouh, hope You are getting excited, I know we were...

First assignment was to check out the material of our shirt. We had to see it under a microscope, see if the texture is visible and try to tear apart a small part of it after, just to check out how strong  the warp and weft are. Your would't like Your clothing to be in bits and peaces just after washing it, would You?

Ouh boy, ouh boy, so many new devices to get our hand on, so little time...

We started by cutting out a small part of our shirt for the experiment.

And then the fun part started. We took one of the microscopes and checking out the texture of the material. And, wow, it was amazing to see such a close up of it. We could see every little small detail.

After we saw how the texture looks, it was time to tear it apart. Yes, yes, You heard it right, we used a machine where You can put in a sample of the material You want to test and after with just one hand movement the machine show You how much strength is putted to work to tear the sample apart . We did the test 3 times just to see if maybe the textile is not in one level there for it can break more easily in some places and You would not like that, would You?  But actually we were very pleased with the results because they were quit the same. 29,55 & 29,64 & 30,17 in warp direction, and in weft direction 24,88 & 25,52. So we can say that this shirt is made out of a good cotton material, Yeeey!

And this is how the torn part looks like under a 20 time close up...

Well, I think that it's all for now. Hope You enjoyed our little article. Here's a funny GIF for You. :)

Wishing You the best of day from me (Viktorija)
